What We Do

ACTEFLC accredits online distance learning and in-class international TEFL/TESL/TESOL certification course programs.

Accreditation is a quality assurance process that programs undergo to confirm that they meet a strict and recognized set of service and operational standards.

Accreditation Process

The first step towards ACTEFLC Fully Accredited TEFL Course Provider status is for the institution seeking accreditation to submit a Company Statement.

The awarding of ACTEFLC Fully Accredited TEFL Course Provider status typically takes anywhere between 2 to 8 weeks.

News & Announcements

In Spring 2020, the United States Department of Education (USDE) provided accrediting agencies guidance for temporary flexibility related to virtual site visits and use of distance education. The USDE has now extended all the flexibilities from Spring 2020 for the duration of the national emergency declaration and for 180 days following the date on which the COVID-19 national emergency declaration is rescinded.

Accrediting agencies are permitted to conduct virtual site visits. The USDE still requires accrediting agencies to conduct a verification site visit following a full virtual site visit in a timeframe that is reasonably practical, which may be performed by staff or a trained peer evaluator.

Processes, dates, and agenda items for the verification visit will be announced by ACTEFLC at an appropriate later date. All TEFL/TESL/TESOL programs scheduled for a site visit during Spring 2021 received information regarding how to plan for a virtual site visit. A verification site visit will be scheduled in a timeframe that is reasonably practical for the TEFL/TESL/TESOL program and ACTEFLC.
